I for one would like to answer the door with an audio/visual setup without having to get up to tell the Avon lady to go away! Seriously though, I'm sure many of you have set this up on your own. And today it shouldn't require any tools or a drill to set it up, right?

What did you set up for your coach? And while we're talking about it what other security measures have you set up? Not only for when you're in your coach but when you're not? Even the times you're in a restaurant eating with your Coach/toad in the parking lot?

Installed a 12 volt residential, local only alarm. Has residential keypad/alarm, motion sensor, entry sensor, external keypad. Cost was about $125. RV is armed when in storage. No false alarms so far. No alarms at all for that matter.

I've never had the Avon lady come to a camper.

The cost of a video alarm system will probably cost as much or more than the theft & damage deductible. You have been robbed before the thieves arrived.

I do like the early warning that an alarm provides. I don't want to wake up with Bubba hovering over me! The alarm also lets you know when you enter the home that someone was or still may be inside.

I think what prompted my question are all the TV ads you see for the doorbell with the Wifi video allowing you to see who's at the door. I thought that may be a good thing to have for a motorhome?

And I'm not even talking about a troublemaker approaching your coach. I'm talking about someone who may come up who wants to see the inside of your coach etc. It's easier sometimes to answer that question with a video sound link, than going to the door.

We all do things in our own way for our own reasons and I for one like the doorbell/video idea. We have it for our home and it make sense to me to have it for our motorhome.

Thank you one and all for your responses. One piece of very good news is how safe RVing has been for so many. That's just how it should be!

I have a sliding window with a sliding screen on the passenger side a few feet behind the entry door. Unless I know who's at the door, I always poke my head out the window and great the person.
