I think he means..I-5/58/97/39/into Cali turns into 139/299 to Alturis, US395 so to Reno/Sparks, I-80 east to Alt-50 (Fallon), US-95 south to 'Vegas, US-95/US-93 to Kingman, AZ, I-40 east to AZ-95 south to wherever..
Just to be sure I would look to be heading that way mid/late Oct. No Later than early Nov.

I take I-5 to McCloud, then 89, 44 to Susanville, then 395 to Reno, then either 395 south or head east to Fallon, then take Nevada 95 south.......I try not to travel anymore then necessary in Calif.......

All those routes are good; my real concern is the "how late" question. they all see some pretty good elevation and I want nothing to do with ice/snow when driving the coach. looking at 10/1 departure but might get held up until 10/15 or so. THX TB

My folks went that way for 30 years. Always left after Thanksgiving, watched the weather and left when it looked clear sailing. They stopped making the trip in their late 80’s. Class A with toad.....

Last year I left Roque River in first part of November and headed south on I-5 all the way to Bakersfield, Ca. Then I took highway 58 to Barstow. The roads were all good through California.

But if you want to go to Reno, Then you have to cut across from Sacramento on I-80 to Reno and that is all good road. Only place I can think off that there could be snow in November is Donner Pass. From Reno you take I-95 all the way to Las Vegas, Nev. Then if you want to leave Las Vegas to go to southern parts of Arizona you continue south on I-95 also very good road.

See Post #5 by Bob Caldwell.

Early to mid November on snow, and even then it will melt in a day or so. Check the historic opening date for the ski areas like Mt Shasta. Usually around Christmas.

Thanks to all for the info both on routes and timing. Looks like we are good to go into the middle of Oct. or even a bit later. Safe travels. TB

We went this last February south with no problems. Just depends on the weather of course. Went to Vegas by way of Bakersfield, Barstow then on to Lake Havasu, Phoenix and Quartzite. I didn't think I-5 was that bad, especially after we decided to take I believe 99 to Bakersfield. Wished I hadn't done that. On the way back, I cut over to I-5 as soon as I could.
If you stay in Bakersfield, try the Orange Grove RV Resort. Very nice.
Sounds like you want to go through Reno and Vegas but I thought I would just hop in and reply.
