Headlight assembly replacement

My 2005 Newmar Northern Star is in need of a headlight assembly replacement. I have a "New" right side light that came with the coach (Purchased used") . I have tried all the tricks, sanding with 2000 grit sand paper, headlight restore, plastic refinish it still is very dull. Does anyone know a site where I could purchase a replace assembly. Thanks to all in advance.

Call Newmar parts and ask them...

The headlights are all standard automotive units, you just need the make/year/model of the car they came from.

You might also try Googling the numbers stamped on the back of the assembly you have, it might come up with matches for you. You may need to try many different combinations of the probably numerous stamped numbers.

Usually there is an SAE number on the headlight lens itself. If you Google it you will be able to identify the car or SUV it came from.

Hi 2junebugs,
Welcome to iRV2. Before purchasing another assembly, consider trying this product.
Mothers Powerball 4 Headlights Restoration Kit,Mothers Headlight Restoration Kit, headlight polishing kit, plastic polish, Mother's Powerball, restore headlights

I use this product once a year. My lenses look factory fresh.

Both TYC and DEMO are OEM aftermarket manufacturers.
New lights from Newmar for my '04 KSDP were $151.00 each.

Thanks for all the responses, I will remove the light and do some searching. I did not know an auto headlight would fit but why the heck not looks like an auto light. Thanks everyone.

RV manufacturers use standard automotive headlight assemblies as those units have already gone through the enormously laborious and costly DOT testing and approval (thanks to the car maker having already done this work) thus saving the RV manufacturer from having to do so.

Same for your taillights and side marker lights and so on. All of these MUST be DOT approved before they can be run on USA roads. Hence, RV makers pirate them from someone that's already got them approved thus save a bundle of dollars and time.

Hello everyone, 2junebugs here, Well thanks to the internet and all the responses with some very good advice I was ab le to track down the make of headlights in a 2005 Newmar Northern Star. They are the same as a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero automobile, Just in case someone needs to replace the entire assembly. Very costly $200. Plus But after some negotations with the newmar parts Mgr, I have a new assembly on the way for $125.00 Thanks for all the info.

The ones I have in my 2005 Newmar are the same as a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero, You can google 2004 olds and look at the headlight assemble, Identical to the one in the Newmar coach.
