When we turn the a/c off and open our windows while driving our 2003 Itasca Sunflyer, heat comes from the vents that are on the floor. We have checked to make sure nothing else is on. What can cause this?

Close windows. Heat from vents will stop. With windows open while driving you are inducing a negative pressure inside the RV. That will suck air through the furnace vents. Where is the furnace getting air that is heated? Hope it is not turned on. Maybe hot outside air cycles through the furnace.

Same thing happens if one of your drain traps is dry. Stink from the waste tank will be pulled into the RV if a negative pressure exists.

Rolled vinyl flooring will rise as well. It is secured at the edges - not glued down. Negative pressure can cause an area to rise. One might think there is air under the flooring and look for where it's coming in (ask me how I know). Close the fan or window, problem solved. Who'd a thought?

Does that mean you can't have your windows down even on nice days when your driving?

Roll 'em down !! Keep drain traps filled, tape some cardboard over the floor heat vents ... enjoy the day.

Honestly there probably is a neater way to close off the floor vents. I would start looking for the source of the air getting into the heating system.

I don't have a single window that roils up and down. They all slide left to right. The copilot window slides up and down. Every window has a screen. I found with my B Van that the side window - slide with screen - that the screen did not like the window being open while underway.

I think I spotted your screen along I-20 a while back. It did not look happy.

Check the coach heater switch on the dashboard. I had the same problem and found out a grandson had played push the buttons up there. The switch is a high low toggle and has to be dead middle to be off.
