Does anyone have inf on changing out the heater core on a 2000 Ultimate? I understand I have to take off the front. Any youtube videos out there? Anyone have any links or directions?

I had to replace the heater core in my previous 2003 Chieftain. The front
cap below the windshield had to be removed. My local shop did the work with no problems. My Tech called the Winnebago help number and they gave him some pointers on removing and replacing the cap.

I replaced 2 cores on my 02 Journey. I followed directions and pictures by (if my memory is correct) I believe "Battchief". Your Ultimate should not be that different from my Journey.

Charles, Doesn't the journeys front end pivot at the bottom and tip back making the heater core accessible? Also did you have to reclaim the air conditioner so that the hoses could be removed while getting to the heater core?

Go to the top of the post. Their is a section that says search powered by Google. Type in "heater core replacement" and you will get many previous posts. This will give you not only posts by BattChief but by many others who replaced the heater core. I pivoted my front clip but if I had to do it again I would completely remove it as did "Smiranger". You can use this search by google to look up any subject that was posted previously.

Didn't have to touch AC. Just removed the clips (about 10 each) holding the black box that has the core in it. Be sure to control these as they will fly all over.

Do the search and you will get pictures and info from many.

I just changed mine on a 2002 journey by following Battchiefs instructions found on here. I tilted the front end down and did not unhook air conditioning hoses. I did this by myself and took me about 8 hours. R V shop wanted about 1000.00 to do it core cost me about 219.00. I would do it again if I had to

Have the same problem in our 1999 UA 40J a small leak in heater core did a little plumbing and ran water around heater core been like that 7 years only really needed dash heat one time,, I do have a repair guy who says he can do it without tilting front end we will see it would be nice to have a little heat but live in Lake Havasu City AZ so not much heat needed. (it was a little cool in Yellowstone this May as 4 inches of snow came down )
