Help! Leveling Jacks

Just traded up to a 2003 Damon and the leveling jacks work differently than my old. On my old, I had independent control for each jack. Now along with the "ON", "STORE" and "OFF" buttons, there are UP/DOWN arrows on the top, bottom and sides of an RV drawing. There are also red and green lites at each set of arrows. Recently I got the RV stuck trying to get it out of my driveway. On the old RV, I could have raised the wheel in trouble and put blocking under it. On this RV, I could not even get the jacks to lower, much less be able to use just one. Can anyone give me a lesson on the proper operation? I looked through the literature and it was useless.

Thanks,

Al

Hi ALF1,
Without knowing the brand of jacks and based on the info provided, consider using the arrows on the control panel to operate an individual jack. Looking at the control panel from the driver's position use the arrows that point away from you to extend the jack. Think of the arrows the same as your arm. One moves their hand away to extend and back toward the body to retract the arm. Many control panels operate the same way. The control panel must be "on" to make this work.

Mysteries solved. I got the jacks to work today. On my coach, I had to have the key in ACC and the coach power on. Even though the lights work on the control panel with the engine running, there is no power to the hydraulic system. Not real sure of the logic, but I guess it is simply a learning curve. Better instructions somewhere in the owners packet would have been nice, but who's perfect?

There are also interlocks on most newer coaches. They prevent the jacks from going down when not in Park or maybe even if the engine is running. They probably also raise the jacks if you put the engine in gear while jacks are down.

When ON and coach in park, the individual jacks will probably go up/down. Tell us the leveler system make and model and we can probably help more.

What brand and model #? With that information an internet search should locate the owners manual and mfgrs. website, which will contain even more information.

RVGeeks has a good video on using the jacks, might be worth a look. I find their videos to be thorough and nicely presented.

They are HWH levelers and yes, I have downloaded their manual. However, only time will probably explain how their manual fits into the system on my coach as the manual only concerns the leveling system itself.
