High oil pressure in 1999 Cummins 350
Howdy! I have a 1999 Country Coach with a Cummins 350 that is consistently reading oil pressure of 70-100, with 50 being normal. Is there a few easy things I could check that might remedy this issue?

Get a mechanical gauge and confirm that the pressure is actually that high.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
I'm not a mechanic so won't comment on that.
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

What does the oil pressure read with ignition on, engine off?
If it reads in the same range, replace your oil pressure sending unit. That is a common failure mode.
If the pressure reads zero with key one, engine off - then you're going to have to plumb in a mechanical pressure gauge. Sometimes the pressure feed to the turbo is easiest to Tee into.

Yep, too high. Now just need to find if it's the gauge. As twinboat said add a mechanical gauge just to check.

Thank you for the input so far. I'm a new diesel owner and will investigate checking the pressure manually.

See if your coach has a monitoring system built in like "Aladdin". Many high-end coaches have a built in monitoring system for displaying tank levels, electrical system status, and engine status.
If so, you can read the engine date (oil pressure) from the engine ECM (a different sensor than the dash gauge uses). Dash gauges are notorious for being inaccurate.

Again, what happens when you turn the key to ON and don't start the engine?
Do that, and then tell us what pressure you are seeing. Key to ON, engine not running. Read pressure. Report back.
I'm trying to save you some trouble having to rig up a mechanical pressure gauge. Every single time I've had a high indicated oil pressure on a Cummins engine, it was from a failed Oil Pressure Sending Unit.

When I turn on the key to the first position the oil gauge went to 51. That's normal pressure.

Sounds like what DryCreek was talking about. Time for a new sending unit.

Then when I turn off it goes back to 0. Before I turned the key to the first position the pressure read 0. Wanted to make sure I answered all the questions.

Thanks Larry. We'll see what DryCreek thinks.
