Hobbies on the road

As we wait for our Cayon Star 3921 to come in and being a Avid Hobby Woodworker, I am looking into Laser Engravers to take along with us camping. I was wondering what if any Hobbies you take along. Also if anyone has experience with Laser Engravers fell free to chime in.

I know a number of fellows who are carvers. Some carve wood, diamond willow and bark. Our resort has a carving club.

I golf, ride motorcycle, ski and build wood projects.

Well lets see: Me and the dog play frisbee, kayaking & fishing if available, talking to others about their coaches, meeting other people, exercising, ride my bike, maybe wax the MH, putter, well that's what the DW says I do, fix something that's broken, help others fix something that's broken, walk, read. The DW loves to read (2-4 books/week on her NOOK) and play games on the computer.

I have a small fly tying box that I'd take out west if we ever head that way.

There's always something to keep us busy.

I like to say:

"I start everyday with lots of nothing to do, I do nothing all day long so tomorrow I still have lots of nothing to do."

When camping I enjoy NOT doing my usual hobbies and chores.

I'm there to relax, talk to friends we camp with, walk the dogs and go exploring with them, enjoy the sites and sounds of camping, watch the clouds and listen to the breeze through the pine trees, get my fire wood ready for the night (and the smores), and if I get really bored... then it must be time to take a nap.

I guess camping IS my hobby.

Both of us do some birding and photography, but not as extensively as we used to. I don't enjoy the extra early morning hours like I used to. Sunsets can be just as nice as sunrises. We also do a lot of reading. But the best is just being able to do as much or as little as we want when we want.

Vsheetz, how does DW set up for quilting? Difficult space issues?

My DW is also a (frustrated) quilter. Had her own room in the S/B, but very little time pre-retirement. Now, time but finds the set up inconvenient. Advice?

Dunno much about the quilting itself. She has sewing machine and misc tools and such. Works on the dining table or outside on a table there. We carry a couple differing folding tables. Several plastic bins with fabric stowed around the coach. Why dry camping she has her own inverter to power the sewing machine.

Hobbies on the road

Had a lot of woodworking equipment in the S/B, but now just carry a few basics. Been lucky the past two winters to be volunteering at a SP with a large, well equipped WW shop. Nirvana!! Now thinking about building HO scale trestles for hobby shows.

I enjoy biking, hiking, (with DW sometimes, sometimes alone) photography, reading, antique shops (me for the books, DW browsing) Some fishing, historical sites... Talking with other campers is always an interest.

Sounds familiar. "Several plastic bins with fabric", eh? How about an entire slide-out tray two deep with bins? ;-)

I'll just have to simplify the setup for her.
