Holding Tank Level Indicators

I was told to fill the tank half way and put a half a cup of dawn into it and some ice cubes and drive it home or to your next stop . I think the ice will free anything that is on the sensers . After camping , I always put water and dawn in my grey and black tanks and drive home . There nice and white when you drain them .

After many years of RVn with several different coaches, I've come to the conclusion that nothing really works without spending a great deal time and effort. Inaccurate holding tank level indicators has become a non issue. I no longer pay any attention to the level monitors and just use common sense. You can easily tell from the sound, when you flush, if the black tank is approaching full. It takes little time or effort to dump the grey tank so i do that every three of four days. When we use the clothes washer, it requires a little more attention. If you wait too long, your shower will let you know the grey tank is full.

I echo Pairajays comment. Jumped in the shower last night, about two minutes in I had a bath tub, aghhhhhhh!! DW says it's been four days with extra meals and showers and dishes! I guess I just lost track of time having a good time. Good thing is no leaks and the tank monitors worked, but you still have to look at them, hence the term monitoring, duh!!!

We spend a lot of time on the road and dry camp quite often. Mostly we get into a campground or find a dump every 4 to 6 days. When camped long term in the desert we have gone as long as 9 days, Pump was starting to complain, toilet was not quite floating and the grey had not yet crept into the shower. indicators seemed right on that day, FW empty and everything else full After driving up the very steep exit ramp from the wash to the dump area (along with plenty of rocking on the dirt road) the empty Black showed the 2/3 light out everything else lit as usual, the grey seemed to show empty and FW showed full once I filled it. I keep a note of the last time Black was dumped right above the throne.
