horn on roof '04 Pace Arrow

I have an 04 Fleetwood Pace Arrow that I bought used. It has a horn mounted on the roof but it does not make sound. If I press the horn button on the center of the steering wheel, a horn under the grill works. Any ideas how to trouble shoot?

First of all, welcome to iRV2.

Since I do not have the same coach as you, yours may be different. But on mine, there is a switch on the dash that selects whether the air horn or the standard horn is used. Try looking to see if there is a switch that may control this. I normally leave mine in the regular position. The air horn is way to loud.

Sometimes there is a selector switch ... have a look at all the rocker switches.

On ours if I have the rocker switch on "Off" all I get is the underhood horn, when the switch is "On" I get both air horns AND the underhood horn. Sometimes have to wake up other drivers and it works.

Mine are electric, and also do not work. I took mine apart and found the horns packed full of all kinds of crap. There is a metal diaphragm in the back part of each horn that was completely rusty and covered with more crap.

They are really simple devices, and I imagine if I took the time to clean them I could get them working again. On my to-do list, but since I replaced the under-hood horns with some air horns, I'm not all that motivated.

Most likely an electric horn on your roof and needs cleaning assuming power is to the horn.

I.m sure my roof horn does not work.

I found some Hadley 5 inch electric under hood horns and replaced my under hood horns with them. They give a nice loud respectable honk. This made my roof horn irrelevant.

One day I too will clean my roof horn.

On my Hadley Horns, I found the Air Compressor would not work, Removed it and hooked the Horns to the Air Brake/Suspension Air Tank. Then I found the Reservoir tank for the Air Horns leaking. Removed tank and hooked the Horns solenoid directly to the main air tanks. I then found the solenoid would work. Replaced Solenoid and the Horns now work. If your coach is gas, you will have to get the compressor working and go from there.
