We bought ours from Best Buy for $820.00 a few months ago. They're on clearance now, wonder if a new model is coming... [ATTACH]201766

There is a new model called rt18, but it is not the same dimensions and may not be a direct replacement. The rt18 is far lower in cost, and has about one inch more depth. Can anyone comment if this will work

With all due respect the RT18 is a top freezer model that is NOT a replacement for the RF18 which continues to show in the Samsung catalog:

I had 2 of those Kenmore bottom freezer, bought it from a third party retailer that handles Sears products, 1st one failed after a week, the retailer agreed to swap it out for a new one, same model, it never worked properly, ice maker made very little ice. Refrigerator cooling was inadequate so I told retailer I want to return it for full refund, retailer agreed to do that. I am now trying to find a replacement that doesn’t have terrible reviews on Consumer Reports, it seems all their recommended models have hundreds of unhappy users. Appears all this outsourcing to China has ruined the appliance industry!

We bought an Amana full size from Home Depot and it works great. Also bought the extended warranty so we just call Home Depot if we have any issues. I insulated the removable panel on the outside but left it so it can provide access to the back of the fridge if required. Whirlpool product seems up to the job.

We used a Whirlpool 14CF top and bottom unit because we did not want to loose our furnace underneath. It's not a counter depth but since it's a smaller CF it fit with room to spare in the back. Top to bottom fit perfect but side to side needed some work. Friend of mine made a fill in piece and wife stained it to match. Came out better than I could have expected.

Stopped buying Samsung after issues with 2 TVs , one fridge and their tablets. Almost impossible to get them to agree to look at them while under warrantee. Bought all Frigidaire appliances for our new house and not one issue in the 2 years they have been service.

Will never buy Samsung again, after multiple problems with our home dishwasher, and refrigerator, and porcelain finish cracked first time we self cleaned the oven. Hard to find repair people to work on them also.

Just got done replacing a samsung 19 with a new RF18. All research done before the swap, said it will go right in. We have a 2005 American Tradition 40 ft. It did NOT go easy. Had to remove tv and part of the tv cabinet. It just squeaked by with some pushing and shoving with4 guys. Hope I never have to do that again.

Reviving an older thread. Just checked and the Fisher Paykel RF170WDLUX5 is priced on Amazon for $1500 and an eBay for the same. Having cooling problems and that may be on the list after this trip.

That description sounds like you had issues getting it in position. But did it fit into the space where the RF197 was?

Haier Fridges

Does anyone know if the Haier Fridges can work well on a modified sine inverter like a Samsung can?

Modern fridges take so little power that buying a small pure sine wave inverter may be worth the money then you can choose any fridge that fits.

DIY electrical is very weak for me so I'm preferring not to wire in a dedicated pure sine. It would be a great addition though.

There must be someone on here who knows if msw will work with a Haier fridge. The RF18 samsung really does have mixed reviews at best.
