Hot Water Heater compartment collapsing

We discovered that the floor of the compartment that houses our 10 gal hot water heater is collapsing. with a rear bath. the HWH is in a compartment at the back Driver Side of the coach, accessible from the outside for regular service and from the inside the floor, to bypass the heater when storing it. The floor is made of particle board and appears to be supported on the side closest to the tub but on the side closest to the back the "support" appears to be above the floor, which makes no sense. I can replace the floor with plywood but am not sure how to access it. I can not discern if the floor is open to the engine compartment or if there is a dead space between it and the engine compartment. If anyone has experience with this or a similar floor plan and can help it will be greatly appreciated.
