Hot Water heater will not get hot enough

I have a atwood 6 gallon lp hot water heater that will get just hot enough to take a shower. The problem just started a couple of days ago. Before it would get extremely hot. Now I can take a shower with out cold water added. I think it may be the thermostat or thermal cut off. But not sure, just guessing. Not sure if it has a thermostat or where it is located.
Thanks for any help. TD

If you have an outside faucet or shower, check to make sure the knobs are turned off. Even with the flow stop engaged on the spray head, it can mix cold water with the hot and create the condition you are experiencing.

Craig P. is absolutely correct, and the answer didn't cost a penny! I, however, took my MH to the shop, when that happened and was charged a fee, for the same info. Now, my sprayer has a plastic tie-strip on it, so that it is on all the time and the faucet knobs have to be turned off, at the faucet, to stop the spray. Never have anymore problems.

Most water heaters do not have an adjustable thermostat-it is factory fixed at 140 degrees F.

Well I assumed that the outside mixer on the shower was off before I replied. After I replied I got off my butt and checked the outside shower and sure enough both cold & hot were on. I turned them off and now I have plenty of hot water. Thanks a bunch!

You can buy an a Atwood 93105 Adjustable Thermostat. It's easy but is about $30.
