Oops looks like my house batteries are in need of replacement. I have a 2003 allegro gas 28DA it has two 6V house batteries. I have used a hydrometer to check the cells and none show more than one ball floating. Any suggestions for a good cost to value replacement battery set ........ Thanks in advance. Doug

I presume the two 6 volt bats are connected to provide 12 volts. Since you have to replace them anyway I would go with two 12 volt batteries to give yourself extra drawdown time. You will need to connect the 12 volt batteries differently than the 6 volt so check elsewhere in this site for wiring diagrams. Sams Club has decent price for batteries.

Stay with the 6 volts. Costco or Sams have great prices on deep cell 6 volt golf cart type batteries. Kind of hard to beat for performance vs price.

You mentioned "cost effective". Although they do make 12 volt true deep batteries they are usually much more expensive than the equivalent two 6 volt batteries in series.
True deep cycle 6 volt batteries come in wet cell, AGM, and Gell Cell configurations. Wet cell is the most cost effective. Trojans have long been a favorite of RVers. I have US Battery brand but have not had them long enough to form any opinion.
I have also seen many poster on this and other forums talk about getting there batteries at Costco, however they tend to change brands so some research would be advisable.

Find an Interstate store that will understand what you need and why. I would get the largest batteries that will fit your battery space. Two six volts batteries wired correctly will give you more power than two 12 volt batteries. If you are going to install yourself, make a diagram of the wiring before you remove the batteries. I would have them checked before replacing to be sure your batteries are bad.

Interstate and many of the other brands you see in Costco and Walmart are made by Johnson Controls and are all essentially the SAME 6V golf cart battery. No worries and excellent value. Trojan T105's are better AND more expensive. You get what you pay for but you may not NEED Trojans depending on how you use the coach and how much you boondock.
If you have the room...I would much prefer the redundancy of a TRUE 12V deep cycle battery like a group 31 Marine Master DC31DT...noting that their other marine maters starting with DP instead of DC are dual purpose batteries and not true deep cycle. EastPenn manufactures these.

I have had good life and performance from multiple sets of Trojan 105 batteries. I don't argue with success and continue to use them.

Depending on your usage, you may not need the higher priced batteries. I have had good service from my six year old house batteries that I purchased from Costco. I have two of their 6V golf cart batteries connected in series.

Replaced my broken Trojans with Interstate two years ago. The Interstates have so far out-preformed the Trojans in terms of power available and water usage.

I would stay with the 6volt batteries. I used the Trojan 6 Volt.

I paid $115 each at the local battery shop.

trojan t-105 is not too much expensive than cosco's or sams club's. in my area, t-105 is 110 apiece while cosco's is 85 but with smaller capacity of 209ah, and sams club's is 129 each with 232ah. both were made by johnson controls.

i was to buy 4 trojan t-105 6v couple days ago. in the store i saw they had good price on a few trojan j185h-ac, for no golf carts were using the size so the owner wanted to clear those out (never been installed but sit there for "a year" - as owner claimed. i guess it might be longer but tested all 4 and they were good). for $100 apiece i got 3. after equalizing their voltages stay at around 12.70v which is translated into 2.12v per cell, not bad. now i have 675ah in total. will see how it goes in long run. with that price, even it lasts just a few years, i wouldn't feel pinched i guess

check with your local golf carts shops, particularly those trojan authorized dealers, you might find surprises.
