Interesting thought about the mineral oil, not heard that before. BUT as for adding water BE SURE TO USE DISTILLED WATER! Not tap water.

Anyone that has not added water in three years means that the battery's are not being charged IAW manufactures recommendations.

That's not necessarily a bad thing depending on one's typical use of the battery bank, but is just as responsible for lack of gassing as the Mineral Oil.

One more question: Do they make 6V AGM batteries? It's the maintenance that bothers me, since we are not full timers, and the MoHo is still an occasional sideline in the midst of a myriad of other competing priorities (too many other projects).

Maybe my question should be more appropriately: Do they make maintenance-free 6V batteries?

Thanks for all info.
There are several manufacturers that offer 6 volt AGMs.
There are also 6 volt Gel -cell which are maintenance free but I would not recommend them.
