House batterys

My 96 Monaco had 2 Sam's Club 4D house batterys in it when I purchased it in AZ a year ago. They were less than a year old. One of the batteries was bad, so I went to a Sam's Club here in Denver for warranty. Sam's Club does not carry 4D's in CO so they replaced them with 4D LTs. Now about 7 monthes later one or maybe both of these is bad. Anyone with experince or advice on these. I have maintained the water level and kept them charged, but they never seemed to have the capacity of the two 12V deep cycle batteries in my previous gas MH. Should I have them replaced under warranty or am I better off junking them and purchasing some thing else?
Thanks
Ron D

You should have replaced both the batteries at the same time. Never understood the mechanics of why but that is the golden rule with batteries.

It appears that Sam's Group D batteries are starting batteries, as they mention only the CCA ratings.

If you have used lots of cycles of house battery deep discharge, maybe your Group D batteries are not up to meeting that type of demand?

If you have the space, you could just go to two 6v Golf Cart batteries which would provide about 200+ AH of storage at 12V or four of them to achieve 400+ AH storage.

One 8D storage battery will provide about 220 AH of storage. (If they indicate CCA ratings they will likely be 8D starting batteries.)

Costco has GC batteries for less than $100 each at our store.

4D size batteries are almost universally dual purpose (start/cycle) and not a good choice for deep cycle operation. Nominally you have around 200 amp hours of capacity in a 4D but life cycles will degrade that...especially if you're not careful about never going below 50% charge (12.2V).
You can get the same capacity from a couple of 6V golf carts from Sams or Costco and that is probably the best bang for the buck today in terms of amp hours and life cycles for your money. Alternatively...Group 31 12V batteries are 100ah each or so...and 2 would replace one of your 4D's. Just make sure that you get a true deep cycle ...with no mention of starting power on the label if you go the 12V route. Deka makes some good ones for the money but not as good as the club deals on 6V batts.
