I have a question, I have a vectra 40ad with basement air, which means if I want to run the ac units, I have to either be hooked up to 50amp service, or run my genny. My question is, can I use one of those household ac units that run on 110 while I am driving down the road for those days where the dash air just isnt enough? I know I can rig the output hose to a window fine, I am just wondering about the 110 load on the system. Any ideas?

you going to try and run it off the inverter?
it sure would take some bracing to have that unit sticking out a window.
run the genny- it needs to be used

If you have a good inverter and big batteries, you may could run it for a little while.

Whats wrong with running the generator and the house Ac unit. We do it all the time.

You are still going to need the generator to power the 110VAC. If you have an inverter, you may be able to operate off the batteries until you run out of power.

I'd just run the generator and enjoy life. Most RV generators are not run enough anyway.

Compared to how much fuel a MH engine uses, the genny is a gas sipper.

If you run it off the inverter, you will likely be shortening your Alternator lifespan because you will deplete the house battery charge quickly, and the alternator will try to keep up.

That is aside from determining how to rig up the household unit during travel, storing it when not traveling etc.

Generator and roof air is the common solution.
