How do I repair/replace this '03 Fleetwood Providence dash fan control unit?

The fan knob (see photo left side) on this dash controlled unit just spins. Do I need to replace the entire unit or are there other suggestions? How do I get the unit out if it needs replacement? I am not wanting to damage anything, looking for some advice before cracking the thing open.

Thanks.

*Mods, if this is not in the correct thread, feel free to move it. I think it should have been in the Fleetwood area. Sorry.

No photo posted, so it's hard to help. Often the dashboard HVAC control panel is an Evans Tempcon unit.

Evans Tempcon, Inc - Service Parts

Many of the control panels are used in other domestic vehicles, I got a replacement dash control from a salvaged Dodge pickup. You could also look at salvaged RVs here for a replacement part:

Buggy forum software (might be me), I posted a pic, though nothing shows. I tried to add a pic and my EDIT option has expired? Newbie pain. Here is a pic of the dash unit:

Your panel looks like this one:
Evans Tempcon, Inc

Except the temp and vent controls are flipped. If you look at the back of your panel you very well could use the Evans one. I contacted Evans to find out what other vehicles my panel (RV218416 - Slide Action Control Panel) was used. Also, pull the knob off that is spinning, if it's just the knob stripped they also have them available.
If you look at the back of the panel I think you'll find plastic tabs holding it in place. Push on the tabs and the panel should drop out.

It can be accessed from the back for removal. I had ours out when the temp knob wasn't working. The fan knob should just pull off, if not there could be a set screw coming up from the low side of the knob.

I believe Ford pickups also used those knobs and controller.

It is a Denso unit, part number LA146600-7920S. I don't see a part number listed for the knobs, or any other parts, looks like you have to replace the unit. You may want to contact the poster in this thread and ask him how he removed his. O6 Providence dash hvac control panel
