Get a bucket and fill it with hot water from your wet bay, then use your wash brush. No soap needed, the hot water softens them up. Love bugs too!

Oileater, and then wash off, also cleans the black marks. Need to rewax also. Love bugs will not come of with just water, but common regular bugs may.

As tall Tex, using hot hot water is all you need to use to get the bugs off.

I use Rejex on our 5er. Water and Meguires Wash and Wax with a soft wash brush works well, no hard scrubbing required. It also helps keeps the shine between polishings with Rejex.

Rain X works well but doesn't last long unless you're staying on top of the clean up.

I like the bathroom form method mentioned before, it doesn't hurt the finish and if allowed to soak in, won't scratch the finish, and can be used on glass and the paint.

If you have the diamond coat, works well on it also, but I would be reluctant to use anything with ammonia in it, do to the same reason it's not used on tinted windows, bad for the tint material.

Haven't used the bug off

My experience tells me that Dryer sheets will damage a clear coat or paint finish by creating fine scratches when used. Not sure what impact they can have on Diamond Shield or other brands of protective clear films. I also do not use any form of a brush or webbed sponge to remove bug residue for the same reasons.

The link below refers to a number of steps (and products) one can take to safely remove bug residue. Key point taken is depending on what steps you take and/or products used, you may still need to re-apply a coat of wax following removal to aid in further prevention (as some cleaning agents will remove both the bugs along with any polish or wax previously applied).

http://www.autogeek.net/remove-bugs-and-tar.html

In my case, I maintain a coiled hose and good spray nozzle quick-connected to a water outlet in my front generator slide compartment that allows me to easily (and when needed) tackle the bugs as frequently as I deem necessary. Along with that, I also store bug cleaning chemical spray, small container of carwash soap and water mixed in a small plastic spray bottle, some soft cotton polishing pads, and a squeegee in my front basement compartment that I can easily access and do the job wherever I am.

I've never seen anything remove stuck on bugs more readily or easy than wet dryer sheets. Warm water, dip the sheet and wipe off the bugs. Rinse with water. Doesn't scratch the paint.

How do you clean the bugs off of your rig?

Our first experience with Love Bugs was in the early 70s.
Now, arthritis has hopped on the bandwagon, so humidity is a curse that keeps me away from Love Bug territory.
And Blue Beacon is a magical replacement for "wax on, wax off".
Volunteer bug-off fanatics are welcome to our camp!

What is so difficult about just using plain water and a micro fiber wash mitt (that also attaches to an extension pole for the windshield)? Just wipe the coach down every day, and apply detailing spray to the diamond shield when you dry it off.

With plain water, you have nothing to rince off either..........

This seemed to work just fine even after driving across the northern plains and their grass hoppers (some the size of small birds).

I would think that love bugs would proably require adding a bit of car wash soap, followed by a rince wipe with plain water.

I use one of the D/W's old body wash puffs. Wet the area and the bugs come right off:

I have lived in Florida for many years now. I've seen a lot of these.
