I've used Happy Camper, Pine oil cleaner, Dawn Dish soap, and nothing. They all work if you have enough water. With a few gallons of fresh water at the start and then dumping the first dish water down the toilet is the cheapest and works as well as anything you might want to buy.

No, it's granulated. You just run a little water in the toilet bowl, pour in the Happy Camper, stir it with the toilet brush to mix it up, then flush!

Thanks, I may try it. I've been using the Telford stuff for years with no issues but it does have an odor which isn't bad but zero odor would be better.

Another Happy Camper user here. Great stuff with no perfumey smell!! Dump only when tank is over half, usually higher. Use tank rinse until water comes out clear. The add 2 minutes of water back in. No problems since 2004 when we go our first mh.

I've been using the Geo-Method for the past few years, mainly because I had black tank sensor issues in my old class C. Seems to work well, I never notice an odor and my sensors worked better.

I only use 'dihydrogen monoxide'
Safe, easy to use, cheap, available just about everywhere and it works.

I have used nothing else since my 1st trailer back in 1977

No tank stoppages, no odors, no chemical smell or staining.

No need for anything else.

A product you might want to look at is "TankTechs Rx - RV Holding Tank Treatment & Cleaner". There are several videos and write-ups on this product.

The different methods of treating the black tank is similar to the methods used to treat diesel fuel. Many have found that all that is needed for the black tank is plenty of water and some dish water. Others feel it's necessary to purchase commercial products to do the same job. Also, many have run diesel engines for decades without additives and no problems. Others feel it's necessary to add commercial products to keep the fuel system clean. I wonder if it's the same people????...

Agreed . I used Happy Camper for three years and never had a problem. However, I read about how TankTechTX worked and decided to give it a try last year. While my opinion is worth exactly what has been paid... ZERO... I must admit I like TankTechRX much better then what I thought was the unbeatable Happy Camper.

Same here, maybe a bit of Calgon to assist in emptying. If you are getting an odor there is a problem with the plumbing problem.

Some folks just like to spend money for things. Well, it's their money to spend as they choose. For me, water is the cheapest and most plentiful black tank additive available.

Another Happy Camper user since 2003. If you do not want any smell when you dump, Happy Camper is the answer.

Using lots of water will also dump everything in the black or grey tanks, but you are not doing anything to kill the smell and your neighbors will hate you every time you dump.

So be nice to your Neighbors and use some kind of an enzyme to break down the solids and turn them back to water.
