Thanks everyone. Being a new owner everything must be checked and double checked to make sure it's normal

Could be a solenoid/relay closing to supply battery charging. Mine makes quite a thump when it engages.

There is no switch noise if I start the generator when not connected to shore power.
Suppose it depends on the manufacturer but in my rig, the default position for the transfer switch is closed, applying power to the house, with no power to the coil. When the generator applies voltage...even with shore power plugged in...the transfer switch operates and switches power from shore to the generator.

Your rig may be different.

I don't hear a thing when plugging in, with or without the Progressive EMS. Don't hear anything when I start the genny either. Everything works fine though. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Knock on wood.

Brought the thing to Ford. They replaced the pump. Sound is still there :( Oh well. Guess I'll just have to deal with it.

My hubby says the whining may be coming from the passenger seat. I wonder what he meant by that???
