How many dash airs work on DPs

Just wondering how many class A DP have dash air that work. Mine and everybody I have talked to really just a few have dash airs that really work blowing cold air. It seams most people don't care if it works or not and don't plan on getting it fixed. Is it the nature of the beast being a DP or they really don't work that well?
thanks

Mine works just fine, driver controlled and passenger controlled. Many had issues with leaking heater valves in the units and some can be fixed with upgraded valve kits or just install a manual valve in the htr. hose. This seams to fix a lot of issues.

How many dash airs work on DPs

Max,

Mine works great. Also has blower in the rear of the coach to provide cooling for the bedroom. Called over the road air in my Country Coach.
And it's just me, but I can't have anything that doesn't work (broken) without having it repaired. Drives me nuts.
But no problems with the OTR cooling so far.

Luck,
Bob

If your having problems with a Evans AC/Heating unit than you may want to read this information.
It seems the Evans heater control has be installed incorrectly in many DP's and gas coach's for years that's why many of us installed ball valves to shut off the hot water from engine.

I'm happy with the operation of my dash air, but I rarely travel in temps over 85f. Trips north and south to my snowbird destination , I use the heater ,( & furnace ) more than the A/C.
Considering the; heater/A/C; units are probably the same size as an extended cab P/U, I guess they work as well as can be expected.
Under engineered, from the get-go, but who knows how much power a properly sized unit/ A/C compressor would suck up.

Well look at that, only three other members type faster than I do, today.

After twelve years mine was not very cold. I bought one of those 134 recharge cans with the gauge and it now blows cold again.

Mine worked great also.

It was a rare (and very hot) occasion when I had to run the generator to power the roof air when traveling in addition to the dash air.

Ditto (and knocking on wood). It blows cold but is not enough this time of year in Texas to do the job anywhere past the driver and passenger. We run the genset and roof AC units to help out when traveling in temps above 92-95 or so.

Ours works fine. We use it all the time. Nice and cold, too.
