How many here own their class 'a' vs. bank owned?
I am curious. I am relatively new to this motorhoming thing but I love it and love my coach. Just sent the bank final payment. Was not fond of borrowing money to pay for her but my wife was in love and so was I... I'm 44 years old now and my coach is an antique but well worth the cost to us. Does anyone else here prefer title in hand or do most just roll over payments on to new units? Oh well, I am so happy I can't even see straight! I hate paying banks.

I agree with you, with the coming economy the more you own outright the better position you'll be in.

I agree have 3 nice cars paid for house paid for, didn't have quit enough cash to pay for coach one day it will be all mine.

No i purchased it August 1st of 2009. So I am two years into this game but the DW and I still work so we use this heavily in the summer and then she goes to heated storage for the winter (we live in Oregon). I don't know if its just me but it is so important anymore to not pay the man for anything..... next goal is to get the note on my home paid off in full. As far as the coach goes talk about an amazing investment! Retails new for $309,000.00 back in 1991 sold to a surgeon in so cal. We paid ten cents on the dollar 18 years later..... moral of the story: I will never need a funner (sp i know) toy than this beast. I will disappear off the grid and this monster will be my chariot! (DW and dog at the ready as well!)

We are the same age as you and both work....financed about 50% of the new Newmar, but our house and vehicles (and quads and sleds) and all paid off. So I feel we're ahead of the game a bit anyways.

Paid for but still can't seem to get away from throwing money at it....repairs, maintenance, upgrades, just-gotta-haves...etc. We continue to make payments, but to ourselves - they go into a savings account to pay for future expenses.

HA! no kidding! but the way I see it everything is easier when title is in hand and your not repairing something that a bank 'really' owns.
Its almost March and check out these bills I have already paid in 2011
a) Complete service and front wheel bearing re-builds = $1,700
b) Liquer Cabinet restock = $300
c) Heated Storage for 2 months = $350
d) Full Coverage insurance for 2 months = $75
e) Top off of 150 gallon diesel tank = $120 (have $525 worth of diesel in there!)
f) Top off of propane tank = $46
g) Wine cellar restock = $150
before spring break now all we need are some good steaks and some dog food!

House is paid off and MH was paid for in cash. Car is paid off, but might buy a new Jeep tomorrow. Will be the only payment...
