How many hours on your diesel genny?

I bought my coach last spring and have have put at least 300 hours on the Onan 7.5 QD. She's been flawless. Changed the oil twice and fuel filter once with a coolant flush. Also performed the spark arrest clean out.

Would like to know who's got a lot of hours on theirs and how things have gone.

Just how long do these units go by following maint schedules?

Keep them running on a regular basis with a load on them, do the maintenance (especially oil and fuel filters) and you can see 10,000 and up according to the techs I have talked with at Cummins/Onan.

mine is a power tech 8000, with 1020 hrs logged, 3 cylinders burning diesel. it works great. the tech i talked to told me it should have no problem for over 10000 hrs as only as maintenance is right. oil and filter should be changed every 100 hrs, and fuel filter be changed at 200 hr interval (not sure on this figure).

Ours is Onan 5000. One year old. Have used it once or twice. I start it occasionally when on the road. Not that often. Should I start it more? Anything else I need to do? They say it needs workout??

I've got 2365 hours on my 7500QD.

The Onan rep in our area has said that 99% of all overhauls -- even on 15,000+ hour generators -- are for poor maintenance (which includes not using them enough). The number of generators that just sort of "run out" is effectively zero.

We have a 2008 Country Coach with Onan QD 8000. We just crossed the 1900 mark. Had the 1000 hour service done at 1400 hours. We run it regularly. It really does start, run, and stop better the more we use it. Had all kinds of problems when we first bought the coach in 2010. But maintenance and regular use have healed our issues.

1965 hrs on our 7500 QD. 10 years old and going strong. I change oil and filter yearly, fuel and air filter every 2-3 years.

Our Onan has only 400 +/- hours and is 16 years old. Unfortunately, we did not run it often enough and the rotor corroded last year. $2000 for repairs. Repairman said we should load it up and run for at least 20 minutes at least once every month.
