How much can my 1992 Gillig tow?

Looked through all of my manuals and no where can I find data on how much I'm rated to tow. 1992 country coach, Gillig chassis, cat 3208t (turbo and undercooler @ 300hp), Allison 4 speed, and weigh in at about 30,000 lbs.
In the early stages of considering towing a sprinter van via a driveline disconnect to accommodate the auto tranny.

Am I nuts?

My Dad had the same chassis, engine and tranny. He towed a 68 four door Ford Falcon behind his 36 ft Elite DP for years. Never had a problem. The engine may not be fast climbing a mountain, but she'll get you over the top. Just be sure your toad has brake assist.

^^^^^^thanks for sharing.

I already tow a Subaru loyale wagon on occasion, just curious how much I can realistically tow. I'm assuming the answer is significantly more than my Subaru (+\- 2700 lbs) given that I see people towing large double axle enclosed trailers jammed full of atvs on a regular basis.

My Gillig has a 7000 lb (engraved on the receiver) rated tow hitch as I recall. The GVWR of the rig is about 31,600 lbs. I have assumed the hitch was installed by Country Coach.

300HP C8.3L Cummins with Allison 3060 and 860 lbs of torque.

There is no published GCWR for the rig and CCI could/would not give me a rating number.

Gillig told me the chassis could pull 5,000 lbs. I doubt they gave the max number for liability concerns on their part as they were not the "Final Manufacturer". The FM was CCI.

The heaviest tow I have done is @5000+ lbs

How did the 5000+ lbs tow? Any significant issues? How about hills?

On flat land tow is not noticeable.

On steep Sierra and similar 6% grades, it will drop to about 35mph max with or without the toad, but always gets to the top.

So basically you are unaffected by the tow vehicle as you drop down to 35 mph on grade with or without. out of curiosity, are you maxing out your speed at 35 mph on those grades?

My sticker on the bumper says 7,000 pounds. We also have the Gillig chassis, but we have a 3176 Cat with 350 Hp and 1,350 lb-ft of torque. We tow a Nissan Maxima weighing about 3,500 pounds. We slow down to about 45 MPH on steep hills.
