Never. Never found the need or desire to put one in. ;-)

Seriously, what you should do depends on how you have been doing with the old one. If you kept wishing you had more power and want to add more batteries and a wiring upgrade go for it. If you were happy before all the upgrades will be a waste of money.

I differ from most on this subject being that we use ours maybe 3% of the time we are in the coach. We don't watch much tv and do not have any other needs for the inverter so it is off for the most part even though 95% of our time is dry camping.

Have owned our MH 6 years 4 years full timing. Bought the MH used no instructions on how to use it. I have never turned it on and don't know how to turn it on. So I guess I dont need one we don't boon dock. I use the generator when ever I need power It needs to be run every now and then anyway.

Use it often. While traveling and frequent dry camping. Residential refrigerator. The inverter automagically comes on and off as needed.

20 months fulltime in this rig. Trace system always on float charge and inverter is always on standby. It kicks on instantly if shore power goes out. Tv doesn't even flicker. We didn't have an inverter in our 2003 gasser. It is great to have power when it is needed during rest stops.

Every day. I have an iron claw pure sine wave 1500 watt inverter. It cost $199. There are some good videos of it on YouTube showing the build quality. It's worked perfectly for me.Easy Install.

I wonId buy another one. Buy it on Amazaon, Ebay, or Sigler Music,

I have a solar panel to charge batteries.

We have a 3000 watt PSW inverter, it's always on except when in storage.

So there you have it, if you watch tv or have a residential refer then you are going to need the inverter for the most part. If you don't have the residential refer and don't watch a bunch of tv like us then you don't really need it all that much.

My 2K psw inverter runs 24/7/365. I have 2 refrigerators the Samsung is connected to a transfer switch and the desk top fridge in the basement is connected directly to the inverter. I wired the power outlet at the passenger feet to it so my wife can watch her soaps on computer as we travel. Since we do not boondock we only have 2 6 volt batteries. This has served us well for 4 years with no issues.

Our inverter is "on" whenever our coach is moving .... has to be in order to run the residential refrigerator. Inverter runs the fridge from the batteries .. alternator charges the batteries. It's a beautiful thing!
