How often is it necessary to access engine thru bedroom

Hi, I recently purchased Country Coach with diesel engine and I am wondering how often is in necessary to do maintenance thru the hatch that is located in the bedroom. Is it used for routine maintenance, like oil changes or is it only used when major repairs are needed.

Normally all maintenance can be done without having to access the engine from under the bed.

Mine has never been opened but I haven't had my valves lashed yet.

It's handy when you have to do the valve lash and replace alternator. Our access is under the bed, so it's easy to remove.

We had to open the hatch when the oil sending unit want out. Our hatch is completely outside the bed perimeter so it's pretty easy to get in and out.

Whenever the serpentine belt needs changing, it has to be, thru the bedroom/closet. Had mine replaced last year. Belt only cost about $50.00. But..... the labor to go thru the bedroom closet was unbelievable! Of course, you always have the option of doing it yourself.

On a coach with side rad you don't need to remove the hatch to change belts.

Depends on the coach. My access is by lifting the bed itself, exposes the entire top of the engine. Chassis batteries, belts, air filter are within easy reach. Engine oil change- oil can be added through the tube behind the radiator but that is very slow & clumsy because there is not much room for the oil jug. Much faster to fill from inside through the cap on the valve cover. I use drop cloths, no mess and even wash part of the CAC and engine from there.

I just changed the serpentine belt and it took about 1 minute to do, longer to get the tools than to change it.
I also pull the mirrors and the track on the floor, then the 6 bolts that hold the floor down. Then I cleaned the top of the motor and took it in for a valve adj.
I think with most of the CC you have to remove the mirrors and track to pull the floor.

Annually to check the "top" of the engine and lubricate the moving parts of the turbo/ exhaust brake... It is also much easier to add 4+ gallons of oil thru valve cover opening as previously stated.

On my CC the fuel filter is accessed via the bedroom hatch.
