Your filter monitor wouldn't be on the dashboard. It's attached to a tube that measures pressure drop in the intake. A clogged filter drops the pressure lower and the monitor is a small plastic cylinder with a scale on the side and a piston that gets drawn down the cylinder. Mine is mounted next to radiator near oil and transmission dipsticks and coolant tank.
