Unplug from shore power and gen off...........wait about 1/2 hour, then check voltage in ytour battery banks using a volt meter. Note the voltages. Then start and idle the main engine and check voltages again. With engine off you should read about 12.5 vots....with engine running you should read around 13.5 volts. If it's reading 13.5 or so with engine running then that battery bank is being charged by alternator on engine.

No volt meter you say.......Unplug from shore power and turn on coach lights. A bunch of them. Wait a few minutes. This will pull the surface charge off. Leave the lights on and, while watching the lights, start the engine. If the lights get brighter, than the coach batteries are charged by the alternator. Better with a volt meter, but this is a quick test.

Sounds as though you have the same issue I have, only situation reversed. Just purchased a two bank charger for my coach batteries as the inverter/charger on mine charges only the house. Engine running they all get charged.

Mahakal, you have a BIRD System to charge all your batteries while driving connected to shore power or Gen running.
This will explain your Bird sys. and this will show all fuse locations and wiring in your Newmar.
Here is a Brochure and Owners Guide for your coach.
In my signature below are three links with more info for your Newmar.
CHECK out the Newmar forum.

FWIW, the senior technician at Camping World of Indianapolis told me he's never seen a Class A MH that did not come equipped to charge the house batteries from the chassis engine.

Then he didn't see a lot of Monaco products, and I bet others. I discovered on Monaco forums that my Monaco built Beaver had a BIRD while similiar Monaco badged Class As did not. This surprised me too.
