Far too many Horror stories like this to add your name to the list. SO new RV arrives and its not what you wanted or has defects and needs warranty work and and and , and you traded in your RV months ago and now will not have your new one for who know when ?
No Thanks, far too many dealers out there to play games with. Keep the ball on your playground and you will always win

What if it was a fulltimer wanting to trade? Would the dealer want their RV up front? 3 months on the streets would be tough. Don't do it.

I would not be buying anything that would be delivered in February. Salted roads, no thanks.

We found a new RV but had to wait a few weeks for delivery and some modifications. We were offered trade for the old one, and were willing to go that route to save money on taxes and for the ease of getting rid of it. While we were waiting for delivery we took the chance of listing the old one on RV Trader and wound up about $5000 ahead selling it outright.
We knew our break even number for trade value and tax benefit, and made that our bottom line in selling it ourselves.
Of course if you still owe money on the old one, that makes trading it much easier.

Thanks for all the perspectives. Sounds like a pretty solid consensus that this is not a good idea. That was my instinct as well.

They say they are giving us such a screamin deal that this is their way to make money since they aren't making any on the RV they are selling us. We don't have an outstanding loan on our RV - so we don't have a loan to worry about. So we don't have to worry about those complexities.

We may try selling it ourselves again. The hassle of showing it is the concern. We live in a bit of a rural area and my DH isn't too happy about me showing the RV without him around. We are hoping to do a big trip next summer - so we do want to get it by March so we can do some shake down trips close to home and be ready for the road.

We have much to consider. Thanks.
