How to remove 1999 f53 wiper arms

Replaced wiper motor but wipers stop in the middle of the windshield when turned off. Also one goes off the windshield on down stroke. Should I remove the arm and reposition to correct? Took nut off the spindle but the arms won't come loose. Is there any thing else I should do to remove the arms. If not, I will try a puller. Is this the right move? Thanks for some advice!

Your wiper mechanism is not a Ford F53 product. It was installed by the maker of the RV body on the Ford chassis. Most times using a puller is the way to go, but I really couldn't be sure since I don't know who supplied the wipers.

According to the instructions that came with my new motor. You need to remove the arm from the motor shaft. Then park the motor. Then put the blades in park position. Then reinstall the arm to the motor shaft. By doing this you will not have a problem with the push rods going over center and jamming (Think damage $$$) Sounds like the one that goes too far down has gone over center. Check the push rods. Make sure the wiper arms travel in the right direction.

After that you can use a puller to remove the wiper arms to fine tune, if needed.

That means the motor or mechanism is set to the position it cuts off power when the dash control is turned off. Usually the only way to stop wipers in the middle of the cycle is to turn off the ignition. If you shut off with the wiper switch before turning off the ignition, the wipers will go to the park position.
