Hurricane 32E RV awning mounting

We have a 2008 Hurricane 32E w/3 slides. The passenger side awning's mounting brackets are on the roof instead of being mounted on the side of the RV. The awning is a little over 17 ft. long and we need to replace it but also thinking about changing the mounting configuration to the side of the RV instead of on the roof. The top of the slide rubs against the awning when extended which causes wear on the awning.
Any suggestions on changing the mounting of the awning or experience with this type of awning installation?
We've never seen a roof mounted awning except on the Hurricane.

Pictures?
They make rollers to put on the underside of the awning on the top edge of the slide outs. The angle/pitch can be lower if you put the top on the side vs the roof.
