HWH Jack problem

I have one Jack that does not always retract completely is there any thing else to look for, other than week springs. Richard

I had 2 on my 07 Itasca Meridian 34H. My brother told me to use slick silicone spray which I did. So far everything working fine but I do spray them every time i put them down and each time they seem to work better. I think my problem was the rig had set for some time before I bought it and everything dried out.
Hope this helps - Richard

Here is a link to just over 1500 previous threads about HWH jacks failing to retract.

This is what HWH has to say about maintaining their jacks using WD40. http://www.hwhcorp.com/ml47149.pdf

Thanks for all the post good info I visited the HWH web site and narrowed down my problem to springs, now the question is who has replaced the springs and how did you get them stretched out and connected?

Get several paint sticks and cut them into 3-4 inch pieces. Extend the jack and insert a piece in between each coil. Retract the jack and the springs will be loose. To put new springs on, bend them and put the shims in on opposite sides until the are long enough to go on.. Extend the jacks and remove the shims.

I was having to use a 2x4 to pry my jacks up every time. Someone here (thanks!) pointed out that HWH says to use WD40. I had been using silicone spray. I started spraying each exposed cylinder with WD43 every time I want to store them. NOW they all retract completely every time.

WD40 spray is relative cheap and a lot easier than installing new springs.

Just a thought.
