New to us MH. Left rear jack got hung up and would not retract completely. Extended and retracted success. Will be at dealer on Monday will have them check it. Should I wipe the jack cylinder down with anything?

Drop them all and give them a squirt with WD40 and then wipe them down with a towel. I generally use paper towels. Should make them work a lot quicker. Good Luck.

Sounds like your spring's are in need of replacing..........as they do "All" the retracting work.

EDIT: Bent piston?????

When you ask for the jacks to retract.... all that is happening is a valve is opening in the valve pack.... it requires the spring pressure to push the fluid back into the supply tank... when you extend the jacks... a pump, moves the fluid through a another circuit and valve to the jack.... of course the higher pressure from the pump extends the jacks much faster...

I agree with the other suggestions .... its either dirt on the piston rods... or spring weakness...

It is my experience that most of the problems with slow jack retraction is that the seal where the ram goes into the jack gets dried out and causes excessive drag. I do as another poster stated and use WD-40, but I spray it directly on the seal to soften it. My retraction times went from 5-10 minutes to about two minutes. I use WD-40 about every other month.

When cleaning the jack rods with WD-40 soak a q-tip and clean under the lip where the rod extends from the housing. I was amazed at how much gunk I removed. I have to clean my front ones every couple months. While your at it, make sure your reservoir is full. Good luck!

The HWH manual recommends WD40, which works very well. If silicone is used it recommends cleaning off with WD40. I also wondered if I had a weak spring. After soaking the pistons with WD I had the same result as a previous post, reducing up time to about two minutes.

I carry a metal bar about 1"x1" and six feet long. Use as a lever to assist a reluctant Jack to retract.

+1 on checking your reservoir fluid level. Another good product for lubricating your rods is a teflon dry lube made by Dupont. Clean your rods with the WD40 and wipe them down then spray the rods with the Dupont Teflon Dry Lube. It leaves no residue to attract dirt and such. I've used it on high performance motorcycle chains for a years with great success. It also works well on door hinges and anything else that moves and requires lubrication. Good stuff.
