none of these systems are rocket science. if you are mechanically inclined, and if you have a volt meter, and a good service manual, even the occasional adventurer can do a diagnosis on the problem, order the part online and replace it.
most new service manuals are very helpful, and clearly written, IF you take the time to read it. often, browsing thru a manual will give the wrong conclusion if taken out of context.
while i know its hard to contact some manufacturers (hwh included.) it is helpful to have read the service manual. you should have also done at least some testing before calling. like knowing where your pump is.
they can also be very helpful but only if you have done your share too.
as always, i work for hwh, my cell is 602-549-3638, and i welcome your call anytime.

Thanks to all for your comments. I think that some of my problems were as mentioned, only three years ago I found a place that seems to have their act together. Most problems in the past could have been bad workmanship. The dealer that repaired my system two years ago did an excellent job. For the first time everything worked great, until my post . I was disappointed that a new cylinder would fail so soon. I agree AzPete would be very helpful, and is very conscientious. Now I just hope the cylinder arrives soon!

I meant that as a complement. There are a lot of posts on here where people have had problems with HWH jacks. They are going to find his number and give him a call. Did I mention a lot of people. It is brave to open yourself up to that potential number of people calling you.

It may not be the cylinder and could be the jack alarm plug on top of the jack cylinder, you may be able to tighten it with right tools if not you have to drop jack out of its housing after disconnecting the hose and alarm wire plug.
If you can not do it yourself than at least you have some idea that it could be a simple thing to not get worked over by repair center.
I have replace two front jacks over ten years one a ring seizure of piston and one recently of corrode jack cylinder from jacket corrosion from road salts.
Need to keep them painted up to prevent the corrosion.

Thanks I will be bringing it home tomorrow, and I will give it a closer look. My plan is to go three legged, if parts don't arrive in time. I will set a bucket under the jack before extending, to catch the oil. It will be a bit inconvenient, but should be doable . I will just keep the reservoir full . I would postpone our trip , but our travel plans involve some events that are happening on a timeline.
I understand corrosion after having to an unexpected return home in January! That will be one of my projects next week, cleaning the undercarriage! I just purchased rust encapsulator paint, so with some safety glasses, wire brush and my trusty creeper I will be busy!

Putting a bucket under the jack ? That sounds like you are going to put a bucket under the jack and then extend the bucket. If you have to do that please post how well it works for you. I would think that the weight of the bus would break anything but a very flat bottom and anything like a piece of gravel would be pushed through the bottom.

I wonder if you took something like an old towel and wrapped it under the jack fairly close to the cylinder then duck tape it tight around the jack and put the other end in the bucket. Would that wick the fluid into the bucket ?

I just thought of another question. IF you are leaking fluid around the jack is the jack lowering? When the jack is deployed the valve to the jack closes keeping the pressure on the cylinder. If you are leaking fluid the pressure on the cylinder is going to decrease and the jack is not going to be able to hold the weight of the vehicle.

Your right, I plan to use paper towels to cushion and take the spillage. I carry squares of plywood that I put down for the jacks to rest on, so the bucket will be on a flat surface. I will try my idea tomorrow in my driveway. The jack will go down, but not for long before it starts retracting. Again I hope to have it fixed before we go , but if not we'll do what we need to do. My main concern is not leaving any oil spots on the pads we stay, while traveling. The rest I can live with.

i dont scare easily. i have worked on hwh systems since 1973. i have worked full time for hwh since 1998. its my job to look for people that are having constant problems, and help get them fixed. if they are near me, i will fix them myself. if not, i can find someone that has done good work for us in the past, and relay that name to the customer.
i dont mind a phone call. my cell is public knowledge, and i give out my card at all the fmca rallies. i attend both fmca national rallies, and do a lot of repairs there. other than that, i visit dealers, and mfg in the western states.
its not that i know everything, but i know who to ask, and am not to proud to do so.

To HicksRA, Thanks, I called and could only leave a message and have yet to receive a call-back from Thursday. I have contacted Blue Moon Service in Carrollton, TX at AZPete's suggestion. They seem to think can fix the problem(s).

Thanks, all.

I understand your problem, that's why I suggested who I did to get the part. Stuarts Service and RV Leveling is the same company and Chuck installs every HWH system for every mfr in the area that uses HWH equipment. I'm sure if you would give him a call he'd have the jack. I originally tried dealing with HWH for parts to no avail. I can't remember how I found out about him but I'm glad I did. If you're in a pinch for time this is the guy to call. JMHO

I'm sure if you got the jack on your own the local guy will install it. He'd probably wonder how you got it so quick as well.

To HicksRA and azpete,

I contacted Commercial Truck; unfortunately they do not do work on Workhorse chassis. I contacted Blue Moon in Carrollton, TX, and they say they can most probably do what we need done.

Thanks, azpete, for your offer of assistance. Just to follow-up on my "contact" with HWH - I did receive a call on Friday the 11th. I picked up the phone during the 2nd ring. When I said, "Hello", the rep from HWH hung up. I immediately called back and explained to the gatekeeper receptionist what had just happen, and how I was disappointed that the tech did not let it ring at least 4-6 times, and she said she would put my name back on "The List". I really do understand having a high call volume problem and the need to isolate the line technicians and mechanics from constant interruptions, so I would like to make a suggestion or two to HWH: Either increase the number of people to respond to the calls or take away the screening from the operator and have a "triage" technician(s) who can quickly evaluate the reason for the call or who can control "The List", and direct it to where it should be directed (i.e., general info, parts, service assistance, etc.), and determine its level of urgency/importance (all calls of course are important). Otherwise, the next level of solution is to make a better product or have a more useful website.

Thanks, all, for your help.
