Hydraulic filter and oil change

I am looking for some information on draining the hydraulic oil from the cooling fan/steering system. I have drained the oil from the hydraulic reservoir, but I want to drain more oil from the system. I see a large 2 1/4" hose on the bottom of the Hyd. Reservoir which is connected to the pump. I assume this is the feed hose for fluid to the pump. Could I disconnect this hose and drain the oil, then refill the system without causing damage to the pump. I am unsure if Air or fluid not filling up the pump would cause damage upon starting the engine? If this were possible I sure don't want to have to bleed the air out of the system. I have the 3 new Nelson filters and fluid ready to go but I am hesitant about draining the rest of the fluid. Any help is appreciated. Thx

You should have no problems with taking the hose off the reservoir, draining oil, changing filters and refilling with new hydraulic oil. Keep us posted.
