Hydraulic Jacks

We have a 1989 Rockwood Driftwood motor home on a P30 frame. The Hydraulic jack tank fluid tank is low. All I can see on the cap is the word Fenner. Does anyone have any ideal what fluid it might use. I do not have any of the manuals for the motor home.

Here is what the Lipper Levelling systems uses.
The Lippert Electronic Leveling System is pre-filled, primed and ready to operate direct from the manufacturer. Type “A” Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) is utilized and will work. ATF with Dexron III or Mercon 5 or a blend of both is recommended by Lippert Components, Inc. In colder temperatures (less than 10° F) the jacks may extend and retract slowly due to the fluid’s molecular nature. For cold weather operation, fluid specially formulated for low temperatures may be desirable. Please consult factory before using any other fluids.

I performed a search online for Fenner pumps but cannot find the recommend fluid. I would be pretty confident that the Dexron III would be used.

I will look around more and get back to you if I find anything else out.

Ok confirmed. The A&E levelling systems of the same vintage as your coach used Fenner reservoirs and pumps which recommended Dextron II transmission fluid. Dextron III is fine too.

Be sure to fill with the jacks retracted, and fill only 3/4 full or 1-inch from the top of the reservoir. The fluid expands and needs room for this and to release air bubbles.

HWH also recommends either their branded oil or Type A, AT fluid. Mine was low so I re-filled it (while everything was retracted). It took several cycles to purge the system of air after filling.

To take out guessing work I got HWH brand oil from camping world for $3.59 each.

Good morning Ray,

Where is the reservoir on your coach? I have a 2006 Vectra wd 40'. I question whether I have enough fluid in my HWH system.
Also would you know if that is the same reservoir for the slides?
