Hydroboost Breaks Driving Us Nuts

One of my traveling partners has a 1990 fleetwood bounder, 454 chevy, p30 chassis..has the hydroboost system.. The problem being intermittent steering loss and intermittent mushy brakes..the power steering fluid comes flowing out of the over flow. They have had it in the shop and they can't figure out what is wrong with it. Any Ideas or suggestions?

I've heard of flushing the system with ATF because it has solvents and then replacing the hydraboost. I just replaced mine without the ATF flush, it just wasn't boosting, wasn't pushing fluid.
