Are you expecting Craig Smith and EBay to read this thread? Enquiring minds, you know. Fortunately for me I don't know Craig Smith nor do I frequent EBay.

I am pretty confident the OP could care less if craig or ebay reads this post. His intention was to let others know that maybe you might want to take every precaution when dealing with either.

I have used eBay and paypal for years and have never had a problem with either of them and will continue using them.

first off there would not be any postal records. They ship hundreds of thousands of boxes every day. As a retired postal employee I can guarantee we did not check them to see if they were empty.

Second of all I have bought a lot of things on Ebay including a car that was about a thousand miles away. I had a friend that lived where the car was being sold and he went to check on it for me but he really did not have to. It was in Wisconsin. The seller had a family member driving through Arkansas deliver it. When the car got here there was a checklist on it for me to check and sign. I had a week under Wisconsin law to verify everything I was told about the car was true. If I had wanted to I could have returned it and gotten a refund of everything but the money to ship it to me. I have had a couple of questionable experiences with eBay but they were resolved. Just because you had one bad experience does not make the whole system bad.

Agreed, Both Ebay and Paypal are well run companies. If you buy something from Ebay it pays to read the full description, every word. likewise if you are selling on Ebay it is imperative that you cover every angle of the sale. I myself post pictures that detail it all. I am sorry the OP had a problem but I do believe he could have done a better job with that particular sale.

I agree. I was depending on an average person with common sense and a bit of mechanical knowledge to understand the difference from the number on the box and the actual part inside.

I did list every motor home the shocks could be installed on. It was the box thing that I should have clarified.

My granddaughter bought a Iphone on Ebay. She paid $300.00 for it. put her chip in and could not get it to work. Took it to the store and they opened it up and said the water detector was showing that it had been in water. She did nothing about it. Of course Poppa had a fit and tried to get her to contact Ebay. She would not. I blame her and not Ebay. You have to be careful when dealing with them. There are people out there who have no character.
