I need your opinion! What would look the best to you!

I live in the south and the summers get very hot. I want to install window awnings over the living room and dinette windows to help the solar heating from the windows. The windows are next to each other with about 13 1/2 inches between the outside edge of their frames.

The dealer thinks I should go with 1 awning to cover both windows. I'm not sure I like that idea since the window heights are different. The living room window is 8 1/2 inches lower than the dinette window. I've attached a picture to give you the visual of what I'm talking about. I'm thinking 2 separate awnings. Each awning installed at the normal hight above the window frame. I know this will put the top of the living room window awning (left window in the picture) in a lower position that the top of the dinette window awning, but it seems to make more sense to me.

What are your opinions? There is no right or wrong just what would look the best to you?

Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Marc

The single might be less maint, but when you pull the shade down-you'll be covering one window more than the other- right?

if you put two on you will be looking at the side of the lower awning when looking out the taller one.
One awning here also.

Not necessarily. It would depend on the size and drop (angle) of the awning. I vote one awning. Two would be too busy and look junky.

That was my thought since there is 8.5 inched difference in the height of the windows.

My thinking is; if 18 inches of window is covered on the tall window only 9.5 inches would be covered on the shorter window when using the single awning. Aesthetically it would probably look better, when down, with just one, but with a 10" or so gap from the frame to the top of the awning, when up, it may look a little funny.

Thanks for the thoughts and opinions.

Marc

This is one of the reasons why I posted this question! Well thought out comment! That is exactally what would happen when setting in the forward looking dinette seat!

Again thanks for helping me think this through. Based on all the responses for 1 awning and your comment, which got me thinking, it would look a little wierd with 2 awnings at two different heights so close together!

1 awning for the 2 windows it is!

Plus you may not have had room for two awnings with the windows as close as they are.
