I outsmarted those mud daubers!

I have the HWH air leveling system on our Windsor and have had problems with mud daubers clogging the exhaust ports with mud. I've had to get under there and clean the mud out of the holes several times.

I went to the local hardware store and bought some screen wire, more porous than regular door screen but small enough they can't get through it. I cut pieces to cover the holes and secured it with Marine Goop, after cleaning the surface with Acetone. That's gonna drive those suckers crazy next spring!

I don't know why they like air solinoids. I had a nest my stair cover Mac valve . It didn't plug it but was only nest I've seen on whole rig.
At work we have sintered breather/filter/mufflers on open ports. Some Mac valves have a tiny pilot port with sintered material built in that could easily be schnoogered by daubers .

I once had a larva of some sort plug a 1/4" copper pipe exhaust of a highly sensitive Beckman O2 analyzer . Even though there was 5 CFH rotometer and gauge were right on spec. It was impossible to calibrate the unit. and not have mid gas way out of spec.. I did figure it out unti past the point of grasping at straws and pulling out ones hair.

I like that trick, Joe

When removing the orig mirror lenses, while fastening large convex mirror mounts onto orig side view mirrors, I found nests inside. They'd entered underneath where the mirror shaft goes into the housing. Before closing things back up I stuffed bronze wool in and around their the dubers entry locations.

Those are NOT mud daubers, more like paper wasps.
