Info. needed

Info. needed--When one is not using the M.H. for a month or more should you disconnect the chassis and house batteries, or hook up to a 50 amp outlet, which I have at my home in my shed area? Is it necessary to drain the Water Heater if not using the M.H. for a period of 30 days--I used to empty, but have not lately, and have noticed no diff. when I go camping again.

Depends on your converter. some have a trickel charge feature when the batteries are fully charged. I installed a dual trickel charge and just plug in 110 to keep them up.

What kind of coach do you have? My previous Monaco did NOT charge the chassis batteries when connected to shore power, so the chassis batteries were usually dead after a month or so -- until I installed this -- on that coach, we left it connected, fridge on, water heater ready to go, a/c on to keep things from melting, 24/7/365. Not fun on the electric bill - but gave me peace of mind and it was ready to go at a moment's notice, which is primarily how we travel (I hate planning!)

Our Newmar charges both chassis and house batteries via a BIRD, so we leave that connected as well.

If you have a Trik L Charge and you have 50 amp available, yes use them. Turn you HW heater off but it is not necessary to drain it for 30 days.

If you have power available, plug it in and let the converter/charger do its thing.

Some brands of coaches, e.g. most Winnebagos & Itascas, do not charge the chassis battery from shore power, though. You might need to add one of the extra devices mentioned above.
