Input on used DP

Hello All...

I am ready to take the leap from an older gas MH to a not quite as old DP.

I am in the 70k or less price range and there are some well maintained beauties out there with upwards of 80k miles. To get what I want it seems like I need look at rigs that have higher mileage.

If well maintained and the records to prove it should I have any concerns about buying a DP MH with that many miles on it?

Any input would be appreciated.

Most people will say that 80K on a diesel is just getting broke in.

80,000 on a d.p. is nothing. If it has regular maintenance receipts I wouldn't think twice about it.

Just turned 79K on the clock in my trusty old Eagle.

Had it serviced at Speedco and got the oil analysis done...same at 79K as it was at 47K five oil changes ago!

I think you are better off with a unit that has been used regularly vs. a low mileage diesel.

Keep in mind, some of those low mileage diesels may be Concrete Queens where they were lived in but not rolled out on the road.

I'm in the same boat, looking at older DP MHs. My mindset is one with mileage was driven and taken care of (most probably). I'm asking for maintenance records when I look at the units. I'm not a fan of older, low mileage anything, including MHs.

If it's been serviced properly then mileage under 100K is nothing! JMHO!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Thanks for all the input. My confidence in buying a DPMH is higher after all the input and after doing more research.

Maintenance is the key to be sure.

Keep it coming!

We have about 162,000 miles on ours, and plan on keeping it for another two years or so (unless you want to give us a good price for it). One thing to look for in older coaches is chassis rubber bushings and coolant hoses. We just had ours replaced along with new rear shocks, and the coach rides totally different--of course, we left about $14,000 at Country Coach! Engine and tranny keeps ticking along; we had engine service done in December about 6,000 miles ago, and no appreciable oil use yet. Look for a coach with a floor plan you like, and have it checked out. Probably the least of your worries should be the engine.
