Instahot

My Instant Hot water dispenser at the sink just split the tank. No it did not freeze, it was 80 when it happened. It had a plastic tank and when the cover plate was removed I could see the split at a seem on the side. Has anybody replaced there's and what did you use???

Dave

We went to lowes or Home Depot and bought a replacement unit. We also had one that stopped heating and called Instahot and they replaced the tank for free.

Wink We never drink the water from the RV!

I have one and never use it. When I renovate the interior I am planning on removing it and installing a dish soap dispenser. You never know what you will get for water when you tank up in different places.

Question Question?

Is the instahot electric and just for coffee and tea or is this a gas unit that replaces a hot water heater?

It is just a small electric heated tank for a small amount of 180 degree water for a cup of tea, coffee or cooking. It holds about 2/3 gallon of water.

Smile Yes thats what I have.

Ok....so it's the same as mine. I never liked drinking fron the rv water tanks and always use bottled water just to be on the safe side. I had one at home too and removed it. I didn't find the water boiled well enough for Tea or Coffee so I replaced it with a dish soap dispenser.

I'm with RVFunhunter.

My coach came with one and it soaked up so much electric that I unplugged it and never used it. We don't use any RV shore water for drinking or cooking anyway.

It sat there for 10 years however this past spring, I finally replaced the faucet with a new one that came with a soap dispenser. Took the useless Insta-Hot out and installed the soap dispenser.

Now we have a useful purpose for that hole in the Corian counter.
