Insulation for Dog House

On one of the diesel pusher vs. gas threads, someone suggested that if you don't like listening to your V10 whine as your F53 chassis climbs a hill, then just add insulation to the dog house to keep engine noise low.

I'd like to do this; does anyone know appropriate insulation material for an RV engine, and where to buy it?

Thanks.

Check with second skin there out of Arizona. I just talked to them yesterday and they have several different ways to help out. Before you call them measure your dog house so you know the square footage of it and determine if it's made from fiberglass or metal. Then order your stuff. There great people to talk to and very helpful.

Great job waiter21 how did it help with heat rejection? Did you do a before and after test for sound and heat?

I did my Bounder with Hushmat. It is considerable quieter now. I did not check the noise level before installing the Hushmat. But today the noise level 2 ft above the doghouse is 32 db with engine off and 52db with it on at idle. to put that in prospective with the engine off and the front air conditioner running the reading is 58 db.

Nothing scientific.. It was noticeably quieter. As for the heat.. I had a major air leak with cold air, and we drive in the winter.. I found the air leak while doing the sound insulation.

However, the doghouse was noticeably cooler.

Yes, it was worth doing..

I put the Dymamat hoodliner on my Winnie in Michigan at my SILs. It was too hot in the middle of July driving from Az. to Michigan.
On the trip returning to Az the engine cover was as cool as the seat covers and noise significantly lower. I ordered another piece to do the section in from of the doghouse as this is just steel and carpet and the heat can be felt on the inside. Should be here Sat.
Well worth doing.
