Insurance... again

My latest bill from Progressive for MH insurances is over $2600/year--time to change. Not sure why it's so high and it's been climbing rapidly over the past 3 years or so; I've been with them since 2000 and never had a claim. So I'm in the process of soliciting quotes from Foremost, National General, Blue Sky are there any other companies I should check with or avoid? My home and Autos are with USAA, my USAA membership is supposed to get some special deal with Progressive, hard to tell from the recent bill.

The good news so far is that Foremost quoted $1500/year for the same coverage as Progressive.

I use USAA also. Progressive quotes >$900 for the same coverage I get from National General for <$500. I can find no problems with them, although I have looked because they are so reasonable.

FWIW if you have an umbrella with USAA they cover a vehicle that is not insured with them under the umbrella limits. If you ask they will specifically name the vehicle in that policy as they would if they insured it.

Because we full time we have National Interstate. One of the few who will do full coverage including contents for full timers. Might get a quote from them.

Thanks I just checked and the annual policy cost in 2011 was $1636, now in 2014 it's up $1000--no claims, no accidents or traffic violations.

Sheesh I wonder if they need an older partner for Flo....seems like the pay might be nice.

Try National Interstate thru Twin Peaks out of Ft. Lauderdale FL. I been thru this hunt and find for the last two years plus. They came in the lowest with the same full coverage as last years Blue Sky which went up over a thousand for no reason. It truly is a lousy business scheme by all insurers!

Blue Sky will also quote FT coverage. They were least expensive for us this year. Quotes change from year to year based on the claims experience the particular company has in your garaging area. Not your claim experience, but everyone's claim experience.

I have a different take on it. I explained to Progressive that although we live in our motorhome, in no way do we travel 12mos. out of a year, I told them what our average mileage is. So why would I pay for fulltime insurance. They agreed. Our yearly premium is $640, with a $24 roadside assistance rider.

I've had Allstate, Progressive, Hartford (through AARP) and AAA (of Southern California) in that order. Allstate was the highest by far, Progressive and Hartford pretty much a wash and AAA by far and away the least expensive. The coverage from all of them was virtually identical.

we have texas farm bureau
we use our RV PORT as the main residence and are free to travel 12 months

our policy is $469.00 every 6 months
500 deductible
we get discounts for having our home owners and truck policy.
no wrecks or tickets in 3 years
I did push in a bumper with my front tire with the pickup in 2011..she took off and stopped, I rolled forward...squish

our pickup was creamed last feb by a person insured by state farm she turned right to turn from the 3rd left lane and about took off the whole front end

Check with FMCA insurance, the agency is Farm and City and they were quite reasonable for our motorhome. Agnet was Robin Nelson

So far I have 4 estimates ranging from $800 to $1500 less than Progressive for the same coverage. Blue Sky is least expensive, others considered National Interstate (via Good Sam) Foremost and Allied (via FMCA).

Sorry Flo...

We are not 'full timers' and our insurance is about $1015 a year. But we also get a 'refund' when we put it away for the winter months. We are with State Farm and have been for about 40 years.
