Calif for me. Nearly as high as Canada. 5yrs ago I bought a big motorcycle. I just added it to my State Farm. After a year, I found that I liked riding, and was gonna keep the bike.
I shopped all over, and they were all within $25 a year, but finally found Markel Ins. Same coverage, 1/3 the cost. They don't ins cars or RVs though.
The best price for my RV is through National General. I have an 'AutoPay' set upAND.... I just keep it on comprehensive until I am gonna use it. I call them up and have full coverage turned on (30 days minimum).

I have all my vehicles with Progressive and for many years. three cars, two motorcycles and the MH. we are Rated as Diamond level customers and find the service, response, and cost to be low and reasonable. I can comment enough about the speedy response to either accidents or telephone answers to features of the programs they offer.
example if you park your vehicles for months at a time you can reduce your cost by calling a placing you vehicle in "storage" status. no liability but comprehensive takes over.
I have had three windshields replace by them and service was excellent. Also had an accident with my truck and they defended my position of my right of way as a no fault.

It just depends on too many factors: What are you insuring, how much are you insuring it for, what coverages you want, what deductibles, where you live (down to the zip code), driving record, additional drivers (their driving records), laws where you live, etc etc etc
All you can really do is set aside some time and start dialing. Make list of what you want and what you need. Make sure all quotes are for the same items on the list. Then compare those rates. Nothing you hear from friends, forums or ads will get you personally reliable info.

We are full-timers and just moved our garage address from Durango, CO to Flagstaff, AZ. Our full-timer policy went from $1800 with National Interstate (no longer in the RV business) to $1325 with National General for the same coverage.

Another MI resident here. Lots in the paper lately about the legislature trying to do something about the insurance rates. Said to be highest in the country due to no-fault and unlimited lifetime medical benefits.
I had National General. Quote was for under $400 but actually was close to $500. Next year jumped to over $600. Third year close to $800. No accidents, claims or tickets. Went back to AAA, less than $50 a year more but I trust them, can't same the same for Good Sam/National General. Storage option, there are certain limits with National General. Don't recall exactly but can't just call your agent and tell them we decided to go camping this weekend, please put full coverage on. You can with AAA Michigan, just did it last weekend, full coverage from Thursday through Monday, now in storage again.

The OP's rate in MI is similar to what I'm paying I'm CA. 2004 Itasca, worth about $30K, paying $635yr, full coverage, $500 ded., State Farm.
But as said earlier, no real way to compare apples to apples; too many variables. Just gotta get on the phone and start shopping.

Agree with Oregon (thread #10). Too many variables from one individual owner to another, state to state comparisons, and other contributing factors, i.e. age, FICO score, etc.
Not full-timers, and Home State of Louisiana, we're bundled with Allstate, i.e. S&B Home, Flood policy, 3-late model autos, street legal golf-car, and the Motor-coach together with a $2M Umbrella policy. Our 2017 45DP Motor-coach policy is full coverage with actual cash value of $532k for $2,144/year. Note: deductible is $5k for a purpose.

I also have AARP insurance with The Hartford. Just under $600 a year for my 02 Monaco Signature. Replacement value $100k. I'm all with that.

I'm in Michigan too, and just switched to FMCA insurance which dropped me from $1600 to $1100 on a $115k Newmar.

We also live in Michigan. Bought our first MH 3 months ago. '04 Georgetown 370TS. Insured for $30,000. No tickets for either of us. Both of us have an 800 or higher credit score. 8 cars, 2 boats and one of our houses insured through Progressive, diamond level. Get a quote of just over $1000. Thought that was high so called my agent who has our business insurance, said he uses Progressive. I can get it cheaper direct than he can. Think I will call GEICO and see how bad they want our business.

I went with State Farm. Right at $3,000/year full coverage. Geico was about $80 higher and Good Sam was... are you sitting down? $22,000/year! I have no idea why. I couldn't close that browser window fast enough. Replacement value 205k, perfect driving record, never filed a claim in my life, good credit, nothing out of the ordinary. $1,000 deductible. State Farm insures my rental property and a military truck (M923A2) and both policies are really cheap. I was surprised that the motorhome is this much per year but it seems to be the least expensive option for me.
