IMO the requirement for registering if you are there within 90 days is if you are there as a resident. Since most Canadians fill out the 8088 Closer Connections Form I doubt the requirement as a resident is met.

The main issue is to find an insurance company that is willing to insure your vehicle for extended periods if you store it in the south. We have always told our insurance company what we do with our units and they are OK. We do not leave it in the south for the summer.

Or you could just stay in Canada and avoid most of the hassles? We spend our winters in Victoria, BC. No customs, no exchange rate, no health insurance, no guns, no bad political attitudes and on and on. It's another glorious sunny day here, grass is green, no snow, daffodils are popping up. We look out on the harbour about 15' from the waters edge. We're awaiting the return of some Ontario friends today, actually. We met them here, BTW. Victoria is a great option!
