intellitec ems display panel question

hi everyone:
We recently purchased our first m.h. ; an '05 H/R Ambass 38pdq. brought her back from Colorado to Ga. with no problems. We have learned alot, and have had some great advise and help fellow members. The 120volt side of the w.h. is not working; gas side works fine; we checked found heating element not hooked up; (no cord to plug in) have 120v. @ the outlet and element ohm's out ok; dont know why it was not hooked up yet. But while we were checking out the system we starting looking at the intellitec panel on the wall below control center. we had read that when hooked up to 50amp service , that only 50amp and power status would be displayed, however the panel was still blank, so we pulled the display panel out (2 screws)and found nothing, meaning all we have is a face plate, no elect. board, however eveything seems to be working. Is this normal to have a dummy panel just to cover a hole?? No wiring seems to have been disturbed as if it came from the factory this way. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

thanks mary a.

No, it is certainly not "normal" to have a dummy plate covering the hole where the EMS should be. Or for the water heater 120v electric element to not be connected to anything. If you are correct, somebody has done some serious messing around with this coach and apparently has stripped parts from it. If it were mine, I would be very uneasy about my purchase.

As Gary said it is not normal but since you now own this new to you coach it would be worth while to dig deeper to see what else may be "altered" Can you contact the previous owner ? or the dealer ? This is a good reason I try to tell others that what ever "Changes " you make to your RV "write it down" so a future owner is enlightened and saves a bunch of time and money.
Good Luck
