Interior damage pics, fix suggestions
Here are some pics of interior water damage on the front corner of the driver side slideout. Ron things he knows what's leaking but haven't fixed it yet. A pretty good sized trim piece just feel off on the dog. He's fine. Rotting wood is flying with every bump in the road. Has anyone every repaired this much damage? It runs all the way down the front of the slide out and onto the floor. Floor is soft around there and the carpet is a little wrinkled. The trip on the pic does not match the trip that is on the other side of the slide out horizontal piece or the vertical piece that fell out. So its been fixed before but apparently the leak has not. Grrr. IF anyone has any good threads, sites, tips and tricks please share. We have to fix it by May 17th, that's the big trip to moab. THANKS!

Let's start with leak. Leaks are tricky. Had a mobile home once; leaked at front door. Found the entry point to be on the other side of the house and traveling around. So, go the distance and caulk everywhere.
On wood rot. I have a similar situation in an older Class A we've not sold. Thinking to just cut plywood and stain. Maybe we'll both learn as this thread progresses.

Ouch. Likely once you start you will find way more damage. Personally I would start with a seal test to identify any and all leaks. Then make a plan. Likely if your slide room roof is damaged its going to require the room be taken out, rebuilt and reinstalled.

I would start with identification of all that has been deteriorated. Pull the material stapled across the top and see how far the damage goes. then remove a little at a time to find undamaged structure. if the damage is limited to the OSB (oriented strand board) and it not into structural material I would think it possible to fix, It is too bad that the industry has gone to using the OSB. From the stain showing in the picture the damage is at the slide ceiling line and is leaking with the slide out and that would lead one to believe the seal is the culprit.

If you run into any small areas that got soft .. Non structural . make flat if swelled. I have used epoxy and low setting on heat gun brush on epoxy ...get it warm it will suck it in reapeat. Used Bob Smith Ind finish coat it's thin epoxy..
They do similar to wood boats in some instances \ repairs.
Works great at bottom edge of a bathroom vanity before install .Bottom if any plywood ..MDF ....cabinets or furnature with bare edges. That eventually swells from moisture from sitting on floor.

Looks like the inner seals of the slideout failed and let the water in. Perhaps not but that's where I'd start looking.
Actually doesn't look too bad - sure, all the vinyl has to be pulled back - possibly replaced if moldy. The OSB board should all be torn out and the fancy trim pieces may be partially salvageable - but you should be able to get replacements or at least similar and stain/finish them yourself if you can't get the original (we still can get the original for our 2008 Tiffin).
Once the wood is pulled off, you'll see the metal frame that everything is fastened to with a few screws.
There may be some damage on the floor of that slide - so it is possible the furniture and flooring might have to removed to fix and of the plywood/etc. that could be compromised.
Again - it's not that terrible - you don't have pull the slide out of the body. It's actually mostly the OSB that under the "pretty" trim that has the problem.
Be encouraged and lend a hand... you'll have tales to tell around the campfire!
